Robert E. Miss

For the past 35 years, Rob has designed board training programs, integrated marketing, fund-    raising and program development campaigns to attract diverse funding streams---especially for organizations in transition.  He specializes in media management and program development, grantsmanship, government, public/private partnership, corporate and foundation relations.

Rob has developed and directed programs for universities, secondary schools, children’s hospitals, health care institutions, public broadcasting, performing arts, human services, libraries, public/ private partnerships, national conservation/environmental organizations, national membership associations and corporate philanthropic contribution programs.

Professional Experience and Education


HeartShare Human Services, VP Resource Development, initiated resource development program.


Lighthouse International, Director of Marketing/Communications, initiated the marketing program.


North Carolina Statewide Public Television Network, Network Director, established 8 TV stations.


Aging Resource Management Services, co-founder, a national corporate eldercare program.


SIBRO, developed a funding plan for the formation of a collaborative managed care corporation for 5 community-based HIV/AIDS agencies and a medical practice in New York City.


Weinberg Center for the Arts, executive director, created marketing strategies to save the Center.


Executive Producer for numerous public television projects, including the first series on southern Black indigenous culture with Evangeline Grant Redding.


National Audubon Society, developed educational software plans for educational computer project. 


Unforgotten, producer, film documentary on mistreatment of the developmentally disabled.


Rap for Joy Reading Project, multi-racial story telling and reading program for inner-city children.


Last Hour of the Billionth Year, environmental television/book project with Harold TP Hayes.


Fordham University School of Philosophy and Letters; Master of Arts, Communications, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Completed a certificate in Philanthropy and Fundraising (CPFR) as well as the required study for a Certificate in Financial Planning at New York University.

Facilitator, Lecturer, Professor

He has taught fund-raising and marketing communications at several institutions, including CHASE Nonprofit Workshops Technical and Management Assistance Series, the University of North Carolina, Seton Hall University, Marymount College, Fund Raising Fundamentals course (AFP), Kean College of New Jersey, the Station Resource Group Leaders Partnership (NPR) and New Jersey AFP Conference on Philanthropy.  Member of the NY Chapter, AFP.      

Writing credits, include: A Teacher’s Resource Guide for Educational TV;  Corporate Strategy for Issues of Aging; Life Planning Newsletter and TV series; as well as numerous annual reports and case statements for support.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Rob has served as a mentor for Team in Training, Leukemia Society of America, a member of the Westchester County Association Communications Committee, and co-managed the professional bookstore for the annual NJ AFP Conference on Philanthropy. He currently serves as Chair of the nonprofit national magazine Kids X-Press, and chairs the arts committee for Gallery 265 of the Westchester Arc.
